A Brief Message of Hope

Writer's picture: Alexandra JensenAlexandra Jensen

“We were married for 55 years. We had a wonderful life.”

I overheard these heartfelt words spoken by an elderly gentleman at a coffee shop while waiting for my macchiato. I couldn’t help but notice his radiant spirit of thanksgiving. It made me smile at the moment and gave me courage to carry with me—courage to endure the ups and downs of marriage… courage to find joy in the midst of the daily grind… courage to not take a single second of my life for granted.

I hope this brief message finds you wherever you’re at today, washing dishes, folding laundry, waiting in the after school pickup line, or stuck inside on a snowy day and gives you courage—courage to be hopeful, prayerful, and joyful in this beautiful, messy, less than glamorous lifestyle called motherhood. Because of Christ, we have every reason to live life counting our blessings and rejoicing in Jesus.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
