Wild Hope

Of the greatness of his government and peace

    there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne

    and over his kingdom,

establishing and upholding it

    with justice and righteousness

from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty

    will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:7

This verse speaks of hope. It speaks of Jesus. The theme of my MomCo. group this year is “Wild Hope.” This verse is a reminder that through Christ Jesus we have wild hope because greater things are yet to come.

As I write this, I am interrupted by screaming and yelling coming from the backyard, and I find myself yet again uttering another reminder to my little ones, “We only touch our own mudpies!” Comical, I know.

Sometimes life as a mom seems overwhelming. It swallows me whole. But when I open up God’s Word, I am reminded of the wild hope I have to hold onto.

Thank God for the hope He provides. Being a mom of littles is only a season, and in the tough moments, this gives me hope. But hope is more than a feeling. It is knowing for absolute certain that greater things are yet to come because my Redeemer lives. I know that ultimately “of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:7). Jesus will establish his kingdom with just judgment. His reign will last forever. This gives me all the hope in the world.

Dear Jesus,

I know you know the plans you have for me. But it is easy to lose sight in daily life. Give me hope that does not waver. Help me cling to the promise that you are ultimately good, like never before. In Jesus’ faithful name, amen.
